The first call at the new Kandla International Container Terminal (KICT) was of Milaha Maritime vessel m.v.”Oshairij” on Feb 4th 2017, as part of the new common carrier feeder service – Kandla Dammam Express (KDX) with a port rotation of Kandla-Jebel Ali-Dammam-Jubail-Jebel Ali-Kandla. Present on the occasion were Mr. Ravi Parmar (IAS), Chairman Kandla Port Trust; Mr. Dhruv Kotak, Jt. Managing Director J.M. Baxi group; Mr. Jan Mortensen Vice President Container Shipping Milaha Maritime (QNL); Mr. George Abrao, Director Poseidon Shipping Agency along with dignitaries from Kandla Port Trust, Shipping Lines, Custom House Agents, Freight Forwarders and members from the Trade. The service with a weekly call at Kandla will greatly benefit the Rice Exporters who ship to Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East, with this first of a kind direct link. Being a common carrier feeder service, it will also provides an opportunity to many NVOCCs operators to participate in this trade lane. Milaha Maritime also launched a pioneering direct link to Doha from Nhava Sheva with the Nhava Sheva Doha Express (NDX).
