COVID-19 RELIEF MEASURES

The world is facing an unprecedented challenge with communities and economies everywhere affected by the growing COVID-19 pandemic. ABRAO Group’s COVID-19 response efforts support people who are the least fortunate. The COVID Relief Programme took place on 19th May 2020 at the Ernakulam Collectorate. Mr. Lenny Abrao, Managing Director of Poseidon Shipping Agencies Pvt Ltd., presented 300 PPE Kits to District Medical Officer Dr. N K Kuttappan, Asst. DMO Dr. Sreedevi S. and other officials of the District Medical Office. Convener Mr. Sejoe Jose and Cochin Club Secretary Mr. Umesh Pai, and Association members of 41 Clubs of India (representing Round Table India Foundation) were also present at the programme.

The 300 PPE Kits of High Risk – HR quality (suitable for healthcare workers) consisting of body suit, shoe covers, hood and disposal bag were donated to cater to the surging demand among health care workers fighting against COVID-19. ABRAO Group employees contributed to this programme by packing, preparing and supplying the provisions needed for the relief operation. The COVID relief operation aimed at providing immediate food ration support to the domestic housekeepers who have lost their source of income and also do not have any other means to fulfill their basic requirements for their families.

CHENNAI AND COCHIN FLOOD RELIEF ACTIVITY

An unusual heavy rainfall in Southern India led to the flash floods during the winter of 2015. It swamped several areas in the city and suburbs, flooding houses in low level and paralysed daily life. It caused serious damage to property and loss of lives. The ABRAO Group joined hands with Alumni of Montfort Yercaud to support needy people in Chennai. The Group also sponsored 100 needy people with dry ration and other essentials for the families in Chennai city. Relief materials such as supplies of basic necessities including milk, water, and vegetables were distributed among the needy people. It aimed to make a difference and helping those who are in need.

The Flood relief activity was presented by Montfort Community Development Society (MCDS) and supported by The ABRAO Group in collaboration with St. Louis Institute, Adyar, Mr. Paul Sathya Chelladurai of Montfort 90 “Aloha” batch and other Alumni of Montfort Yercaud – Mr. George Mathew, Mr. Thangaprabhu, ‘Paragon Footwears’, and Mr. Shankar Roy (Australia).
